Toko Helx Race Wax

Success in skiing is based on various factors – one very important factor is wax. With Toko HelX, we have once again confirmed our place as a leader in technology changing the standard of Flourocarbon performance and application.

Toko HelX Warm
100% Fluorocarbon Liquid Racing Wax
Optimal in warm, wet snow (Snowball Snow).
Optimal in snow temperatures from 0 ºC (32 ºF) to -5ºC (22 ºF), however high moisture is the key factor in deciding to use Helx Warm.

Toko HelX Cold
100 % Flourocarbon Liquid Racing Wax

Optimal in conditions colder and dryer than Helx Warm, but not really COLD conditions. Use Jetstream Old Snow in cold, dry snow conditions. If in doubt on which Helx to use, use Helx Cold.

Optimal in Temperatures from -2ºC (28ºF) to -8ºC (17ºF)

The advantages of Toko HelX:
- Extreme acceleration ratios
- Increased terminal velocity
- Long-lasting optimal performance
- Economical due to the super-thin nano coating
- The base will not harden
- Simple and quick spray application
- Environmentally friendly due to clean pressurized gas
- Sprayable in every position

- Will not slow down skis if used in inappropriate conditions
- Works to the last drop

- Will provide 12-15 applications for Nordic skis, 7-10 applications for Alpine skis, and 5-6 Snowboards

The successes of Toko HelX:
With the 100 % fluorine liquid racing wax, Toko has succeeded in achieving a true leap forward in the liquid wax area. Toko HelX created a sensation with numerous "medal wins" and victories at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic games and literally all major World Cup events since. Additionally, Toko Helx has experienced sensational results and has a huge following in Citizen level racing due to both it's extraordinary performance and ease of application.

This is Toko HelX:
Toko HelX is a liquid wax made from fluorine telomeres. Fluorine atoms are arranged on short chain spiral molecules, the so-called helix structure. This leads to a unique density of fluorine molecules on the surface of the base, which shows itself in the hitherto-unattainable, excellent gliding properties. In Toko HelX the active substance, flouro-carbon, is so highly concentrated that maximum effects can even be achieved with an extremely thin coating. Furthermore, the unique processing of the active substance into a nano-emulsion leads to an even better coating of the microstructures of the ski base with dirt and water repellent fluorine. Toko HelX is not an aerosol propelled product. Rather, a bladder inside the canister is filled with the product while pressurized gas surrounds this bladder. When the product is sprayed, the gas squeezes the bladder spraying Helx out uniformly until the very last drop. This ensures that you get pure product on your skis, rather than product mixed with propellant.

How Toko HelX works:
Thanks to the revolutionary technology, the vital microstructure of the base is optimally coated and yet the macrostructure of the ski is not harmed. It is in this way, that the friction coefficient is significantly reduced, which in turn greatly improves gliding properties.

Using Toko HelX:
Step 1
Prepare base for waxing

Step 2
Iron-in Toko Dibloc (HF, LF) using the Toko wax iron, remove and brush-out using the Toko polishing brush.

Step 3

Pre polish the base with the yellow side of the Toko dual pads.

Step 4
Evenly spray on Toko HelX and allow to dry for at least 15 minutes at room temperature - this is a critical step - the wax must dry completely. It can sit overnight for really good adhesion. (If Helx application must be done below room temperature, rotocorking the product until dry is necessary. Only after rotobrushing, lightly brush ski with a dedicated flourocarbon polishing brush.)

Step 5
Polish the base thoroughly using the white side

Tip!
In dirty snow conditions apply a layer of rubbed on Jetstream Old Snow between sets 2 and 3. This will enhance the dirt repelling properties of Helx and the wax job in general.

Dual Pad
The Toko Dual Pad comes with every package of Helx (warm and cold) and is also available seperately. It is a necessary tool when applying Toko Helx or Nano HF2

The yellow side
Prepares/cleans the base and removes harmful remnants of wax and small particles of dust.

The white side
To be used on the base following the application of Toko HelX. Good polishing produces the warmth necessary to get optimal distribution of the fluorine molecules (gliding factors).

Structurite Nordic with 2 rollers

This waxToko iron displays brilliant performance in professional use.
$79.95

With the new 50 mm broadened Structurite Nordic, structures can be simply grooved even in shaped cross-country skis. With 2 interchangeable structure rollers: broken linear, coarse structure for coarse, icy. Broken linear, fine structure for dry, fine powder.

This is a great structure tool because the rill is pressed, not cut. This means that structuring your ski is almost risk free. Use this as a final application as to not scrape it out while waxing.
With 2 interchangeable structure rollers: broken linear, coarse structure for coarse, icy. Broken linear, fine structure for dry, fine powder snow or cold, fine old snow.

The structure tool is an ideal supplement to the stone grinder. Special snow conditions – mostly extremely warm or extremely cold conditions – demand an appropriately modified base structure. With the Toko Structurite range there is the right solution for all conditions.

As the base of your ski or snowboard glides over the snow, small droplets of water form at the points of contact between base and snow. If the area of contact is too large, friction increases - this can lead to the creation of a large film of water, which in turn can produce a strong vacuum effect. Of course, with a small area of contact and little friction, it can be more difficult to achieve the desired lubricating effect. Base structures can provide the solution in these situations. In order to create an optimal area of contact between ski and snow, a structure is ground into the surface of the base. In racing sports, these structures are tailored to the texture of the surface of the snow on a quite individual basis - whereby they guarantee an optimally gliding ski. The selection criteria: with low temperatures and fine snow crystals a fine structure is needed, so as to maximize the contact area and friction strengths. In warmer temperatures, coarsely grained snow and wet snow demand coarsely grained structures in order to reduce the contact area, thus hindering the unwanted, braking vacuum effect.

Oxysox performance socks - great for all sports

Oxysox performance socks - great for all sports: "These socks might be your new secret weapon

July 2003
Socks That Breathe

These socks might be your new secret weapon

he latest device promising to help you run faster is one of the last you'd ever expect: your socks. British star Paula Radcliffe has run her world-record marathons in kneehigh socks, and now a handful of American runners are also reporting success with the geeky-looking hose.

Last February, four of the top 10 finishers in the U.S. Marathon Championships wore knee-highs, including third- and fourth-place finishers Clint Verran and Jeff Campbell. Campbell improved his marathon personal record from 2:19:18 to 2:16:26. "1 use them after hard workout days to help flush out my legs," he says. "After my 2:16, my lower legs definitely felt better than the rest of my body. The socks really work for me."

Executives at Oxysocks claim their Lycra -and-CoolMaxbased pressure socks can improve a runner's max VO2 by increasing blood return from the legs to the heart. They note that patients with vascular disease in the legs have benefited from similar socks, and that compression tights were shown to improve leg strength in a Penn State University study. Skeptics point out that the natural pounding motion of running does an excellent job of pushing blood back to the heart.

OUR TAKE: You might run faster from sheer embarrassment. For more, go to RevelSports.com.

This universal hot wax can be used for all types of snow and temperatures. An ideal wax for base-care, it protects against dirt accumulation and oxidization during storage.

The high quality hydrocarbon system is often used by the professionals for training - proof that the waxes meet the highest training demands of racers. The tried-and-tested, simple temperature coordination guarantees that choosing the right wax that will work on any kind of snow is easy. System-3 wax is also especially suitable for the upkeep of new equipment. It saturates the base, keeps it smooth, hinders oxidation and optimizes gliding properties. New skis and new boards are often “broken in” in the World Cup with System-3 waxes (the expression “breaking in” describes the continued ironing and scraping of new equipment with hot wax).

Applying hot wax
Melt wax on the plate of the iron
Drip wax onto the base. Ensure that wax is applied evenly. Tip:For mixtures, simply hold the wax sticks together and possibly tie an elastic band around them
Iron in wax
Push or pull the iron evenly over the gliding surface. If the iron does not glide smoothly, drip on some more wax.
Uncover side edges
Uncover the edges immediately after waxing (professional technique)
Scrape off wax
Use the Plexi blade to scrape off the wax from the base in the running direction after about an hour.

Tip: The longer you leave the wax to cool and, therefore, harden, the faster the skis/boards will be.
Brush out base structure
Brush out the base structure in the running direction with the copper brush. For cold snow conditions (harder waxes), use the nylon brush to polish the base afterwards. Use the horsehair brush for the finish.
Sharpen the Plexi blade
Pull the Plexi blade across the blade sharpener, which is suitable for various blade widths.
Steel Wire
Tip:The professional service technician uses the Toko Steel Wire to brush out the ski especially for speed disciplines. The structure is thus perfectly freed-up – these skis have optimal "pull” at high speeds.
